PIETER T

New Zealnad R&B/Soul sensation Pieter T is the future of the NZ music scene, if you haven't checked out his music you better get onto him quick sticks!. He just released a new single and video "Can't Stop Loving You" (where Pieter wears a purple with white Spader hoodie). The Spader team is really excited about Pieter T's future which is why we sat down with him and asked a few Q's...

What did you dream of being when you were a kid?
A lawyer of all things! That sure changed when I realised how much actual effort goes into a position like that, not too mention the fact that criminal law means you actually have to associate with criminals and get them 'off' crimes their "not guilty of". Yeah right pal. not as cool in real life as it is on tv. the liars. it's a sham! hah!

What are you doing now in your life?
As I got a little bit older (around 15-16) I realised i have a bit of gift for singing, and like most of my life, I’ve always been pretty strong in doing things that I want to do, and heading in the direction that I want too when i have goal i want to achieve. so, within the space of a few short years I’ve thrown myself into the limelight (with the help of a few friends getting me there along the way). the journey is long, with many twists and turns, but so far, I’ve achieved the goals exactly how i imagined i would in the time frames i set for myself. Time to set some new ones!

What has been the best advice given to you to about surviving in the entertainment industry?
Hard work trumps raw talent any day. Ask anyone who’s big right now, like huge in the industry, and i can guarantee you all of them worked for years at their craft before they cracked it big. That’s what i remember every time i have a setback in my career, it all adds to my ability to cope with situations. Positivity is everything. I will get to the top when I’m meant to get there, as long as i stick at it!

Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?
All sorts man! Usher, Robin Thicke, Ne-Yo, Chris brown, Trey Songz, I try to draw a lot of what these guys are currently rocking and see if i can set it off a little differently, just to add a personal touch to it. Gotta stay current, but at the same time being yourself in it.

Describe your style to us?
Differing slightly dependent on my mood and my surroundings" just like anyone, you tend to structure an outfit down to how your feeling at the time, and where your going too (upbeat and confident at a bigwig gig - flashy and dressed up / kicking at the studio working or working a crowd at a club - hoodie with a beanie tight and fly kicks.)

Describe your outfit when you go out?
Like I said above, if I’m performing to my hip hop peoples I’ll rock on my Spader hoodie with a leather jacket, full gloves, with a fitted cap, black jeans and some Nike airs. If I’m going to an r&b function it'll be a suit jacket, a Spader top underneath, a nice scarf, tight jeans and some dress shoes and all my jewellery. keep it pimpin baby!

What item of clothing would you like to see brought back?
hahaha.....um. that’s tough man! Most phases i went through as a kid in the late 90's with fashion we're things that shouldn't have a place in our society haha! Tearaways, knitted cardigans, no no no. why the hell was that stuff hot again? hah! Maybe flashy belts. I see that faded away pretty quick but if they stopped making them on a ghetto budget and made the real thing? then that’s hot!

Who is a person that has been an inspiration to you?
Ne-yo. dude is mad inspirational, an exceptional songwriter, performer, linguist, just an intellect through and through.

Who is the ultimate Spader to you?
Kanye West. If you have to ask why? you ain't a Spader.
