JAPANESE ARCHITECTURE PART 2

Spader fans, this week we have another unbelievable house from Japan. Set in the Forrest, the 'Curve House', for obvious reasons, looks, and is, pretty spectacular. Again, the minimalist approach to design (particularly the interior design), materials and colours are what we like so much about this house. Take a look at the pics and see what you think.

MAYA JUPITER

Maya Jupiter is one hard working Spader. She hosted & produced the National hip hop radio show in Australia for 4 years "Triple J's Hip Hop Show", is an MC for the hip hop group Foreign Heights (nominated for an Aria award in 2007), is a VJ on Australia's favourite music channel (Channel V) and is currently recording her second album in LA where we locked her down to ask a few questions.

What did you dream of being when you were a kid?

I wanted to be a dancer when I was a kid, maybe it was the Michael Jackson videos but I thought I would be a choreographer. Then I went through a stage where I wanted to be a school teacher, my Year Advisor snapped me out of that one!

What are you doing now in your life?

Right now I’m recording my second solo album in Los Angeles and loving the whole process again. I am exploring my vocal abilities and feel like i’m growing as an artist.

What has been the best advice given to you to about surviving in the entertainment industry?
Stay true to who you are, always be yourself and love what you do.
Also don’t believe the hype! Meaning, don’t get too hyped up when people love you and don’t let it get to you when they don’t.

Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?
Hip Hop inspires me and my best friend Weave at Cyber Thief who is an incredible designer.

Describe your style to us?

My style is Latina Hip Hop.. I love wearing locally made singlets with jeans and sneakers.
Anything I can move around in when im on stage or dancing in a club.

Describe your outfit when you go out?

I’m getting more feminine these days, I love to put on a dress with heels when I can.

What item of clothing would you like to see brought back?
I think its more what not to bring back.. Stone washed jeans..yuck!

Who is a person that has been an inspiration to you?
My mother definitely, she still inspires me to live my dreams.

Who is the ultimate Spader to you?

By your definition I have to say Yumi Stynes. An incredible woman who I have always admired and loved working with.

2AM CLUB

MY SPADER FAMILY,

2AM CLUB's first official NYC show was a sellout.......a first for us. We were a little rusty (we haven't played in 4 months) but the energy was there and the crowd got down like always. It's a crazy transition getting back on the stage when you have been so introverted as a band creating music. We've been holed up in the studio and forgot how exciting and rewarding it is to play for our fans, it's always been the reason we do what we do.

We had a photo shoot a few days ago, it was our first official shoot ever fully stocked with clothing racks, shoes, jewelry, food, etc. It's funny how fast this all is starting to come, six months ago when we wanted to do a photo shoot we would find a friend buy a 24 pack of tecate and go find a cool place to take pics.....now there is a call sheet, a staff, production assistants, managers, the whole nine. I'll get some pics up here from the shoot as soon as possible. Check out the new edition of 2AM TV on our website and under here.

Love and Good,
Marc

JAPANESE ARCHITECTURE PART 1

To get things under way with our Japanese architecture posts, we’ll start with a house found recently on website archdaily. The project, known as the floating roof house, is positioned at the bottom of a hill and, due to its seeming lack of walls, allows the slope to continue through the internal space of the house - All four walls can actually be fully opened up, hence the name ‘floating roof’.

The project is incredibly simple. All the walls slide open and shut on big steel runners, allowing the house to be fully opened and aired, a lot of the furniture is actually fixed and built into the house, and it has a very minimalist feel, which we like at Spader.

The minimalist simplicity also extends, or starts, with the use of materials – it doesn’t get much simpler than steel, concrete, timber and pebbles. You’ll also notice that there are no loud or bright colours, it’s simply the colours of the materials with a white roof, which really works.

Anyways, open the pictures up and see what you think.
