MARIA NICHOLAS INTERVIEW
What did you dream of being when you were a kid?
A professional tennis player (although I never played), a veterinarian, and teacher--I was an ambitious child.
What are you doing now in your life?
Living each day! Putting my creative energy into many different avenues--I'm a tv host in LA/Palm Springs, and while I work for other people, it's important to always create your own opportunities--so I've got a few of my own projects in the works...so stay tuned. I also sing. Oh yes and I bartend....I make a mean martini.....
What has been the best advice given to you to about surviving in the entertainment industry?
Wow so much! Be ready when the summons comes. Stay true to thyself, play the game, don't take anything personally, and never take yourself too seriously. The various one-liners I've mastered when "dealing with hecklers". And of course the two P's: Patience and Persistence.
Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?
Geez--lots of places--from Europeans (I've always dug their style), magazines, random girls on the street, boutique windows on Melrose Ave, my closet--I never get rid of anything so it's fun to be creative and mix random old things with random new things.
Describe your style to us?
Classy, sexy, chic with a sprinkle of Bohemian.
Describe your outfit when you go out?
See above.
What item of clothing would you like to see brought back?
Hhmmm....the loin cloth? I know what I wouldn't want to see brought back....those high-wasted jeans and hammer pants that all of those celebs were recently wearing.
Who is a person that has been an inspiration to you?
My three mentors here in LA--wouldn't be here if it weren't for them. We all need a good teacher. I'm blessed with three. And Diane Lane.
Who is the ultimate Spader to you?
Erykah Badu--she's badass.

SPADER APPEARANCE @ VH1
VH1’s Hip Hop Honors had there sixth annual show in Brooklyn on September 23 & rather than paying homage to some of hip hop’s greatest acts, as has been done in years past, the show recognized the long and influential history of one of music’s most important labels, Def Jam.
The night kicked off with Eminem and Black Thought channeling LL Cool J’s “Rock the Bells.” Next, two of the greatest groups of all time were honored, as Public Enemy performed “Rebel Without a Pause” with help from a few friends, and Wale, KRS-One, and Travis McCoy rocked to Beastie Boys hit “No Sleep till Brooklyn.”
The night was filled with Def Jam hits and reunions, from Ja Rule and Ashanti collaborating on “Down 4 U” and “Always on Time,” to Onyx’s “Slam,” and Method Man and Mary J. Blige starting “You’re All I Need,”. Rick Ross performed his hit “Hustlin’,” while DMX did the same with “Party Up,” and Warren G and Trey Songz teamed up for a memorable rendition of “Regulate.”
Ludacris and Scarface came out together and got the crowd hype to “Guess Who’s Back” and “Southern Hospitality,” respectively, DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Roots brought the evening home with a Def Jam medley. The night came to a close with versions of “I’ll Be,” “Back Like That,” and “Touch the Sky,” performed by Kid Rock, EPMD, Fabolous, Foxy Brown, Ghostface, Chrisette Michelle and Wale.

YOUNG MURPH UPDATE
WHEN SUCCESS IS ON THE BRAIN, SLEEPING SEEMS TO GET LOST IN THE SHUFFLE......
It's probably pretty obvious that this is one of the most exciting times of my life, and as I sadly approach the 1 year anniversary of my father's unexpected passing, I can't help but to feel positive about where my life is heading at the moment. If there is one thing that I learned from my father leaving this earth is that our time here is limited and if one has a desire to leave something incredible behind, he/she has to put the work in. This might mean changing management several times, trying out different producers/writting teams, doing shows that might not have as many people in the crowd as one wishes, not really doing any shows at all, having more than a handful of industry ups, downs, and disappointments before finally putting all of your money into a project that will literally "make or break you".....

AMANDA DIVA INTERVIEW
Amanda Diva is an outgoing and vibrant young lady falling under the Spader umbrella as a trendsetter + positive role model which is why we have become big fans of her. Hailing from New York, Amanda made a name for herself through the spoken word scene being chosen to appear on Russell Simmon’s Def Poetry Jam (’02 & ’05). She is now doing it all: she's a T.V host, singer/rapper, painter and all round Spader. The future is definetly bright for Amanda (as you can see in her video below) and we can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
What did you dream of being when you were a kid?
The first black female president of the U.S. (My 3RD grade teacher put on my report card that I was over ambitious and needed to have more realistic goals.)
What are you doing now in your life?
Yikes. A lot! Painting, music, and working as a tv/web personality. I produce a humor based news show called DivaSpeakTV.
What has been the best advice given to you to about surviving in the entertainment industry?
Stick to your guns.
Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?
Man, I just like to have fun. So I just love wearing bright colors. I'm also An 80's baby who came of age in the 90's. So I'm very nostalgic about fashion trends of that era.
Describe your style to us?
Funky, vibrant, b-girl chic
Describe your outfit when you go out?
Lol, people have said I have a uniform. Kicks (usually Chucks or Nikes), spandex pants or bright colored jeans, and a v-neck or tank. Comfortable, fly, and funky
What item of clothing would you like to see brought back?
Overalls with one strap down!
Who is a person that has been an inspiration to you?
My mom
Who is the ultimate Spader to you?
Jay-Z. There was a point, at the height of his musical fame when I swear if he told cats to wear a tu tu they would've!
We really enjoyed this video from Amanda Diva, check it out!

THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE
Anna Wintour, the legendary editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine for twenty years, is the most powerful and polarizing figure in fashion. Hidden behind her trademark bob and sunglasses, she has never allowed anyone to scrutinize the inner workings of her magazine. Until now. The Spader team finally got a chance to see this documentary (The September Issue) last weekend and it's a MUST SEE for all you fashion freaks. It's really interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes of such a influential magazine and who really makes the decisions. Here is the trailer.

2AM CLUB UPDATE
Spader Nation,
My heart is broken, but my swagger is not. In the midst of this rock and roll lifestyle, a love is lost....but the show must go on. I would give you all the gruesome details but I'm selling them to Oprah's blog later this week....gotta stick to the biz for my Spaders
It's been quite a time since we last spoke. The record is finished, our first tour is in the works, And we have much business to attend to before we leave for the road. It's all a grind, day in day out but of course it's worth it. I know people are out there looking for their passion, we're living off it....pinch me.
Just spent a week with some the Spader team in NYC....the whole thing about Spading?....it's not a game, these boys know how to party. We were stirring it up all over the big apple, making contacts and promoting the line and the bamd. The whole team gets stronger everyday, shout out to Young Murph, The Cataracs, Eugene Wiggydee, and the rest of the crew. The real way you make it in this business is being connected to like minded, driven people. That's what this movement is all about, people sharing their talents and growing together. We've been climbing since sunset blvd (the east side) now we gotta get back. Much much more to come....
One love
Marc
